Fixed Asset Accountant

MetroNational . We are seeking a detail-oriented Fixed Asset Accountant to manage and maintain our real estate portfolio and related assets. This role is responsible for recording acquisitions and disposals, tracking construction/development projects, placing assets in service, calculating depreciation, and ensuring accurate reporting in compliance with accounting standards.
Responsibilities
Input fixed assets purchased and constructed into asset management systems Record entries for sales and disposals of fixed assets in the accounting system Maintain fixed assets depreciation schedules Reconcile asset details between the accounting system and asset management system Track expenditures for fixed assets/construction projects against the capital budget and management authorizations Monitor controls, procedures, and forms for recording fixed assets Review invoices for accurate coding and capitalize assets per capital policy Account reconciliations Assist with internal and external audits Responsible for full Fixed Assets month-end closing cycle Prepare monthly journals and accruals Perform additional duties as assigned Complete monthly and quarterly capital expenditure reporting
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, preferred 3+ years of fixed assets accounting experience Thorough understanding of fixed asset accounting, tracking and processes MRI or Real Estate Accounting software experience, a plus Construction-related experience in any industry required
Skills and Other Requirements
Working knowledge of financial terms and GAAP Understanding of depreciation and amortization calculations for various asset classes Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe Strong analytical abilities with high attention to detail Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities Self-managed work style with the ability to work independently Commitment to confidentiality and professional conduct Excellent verbal and written communication skills Physical ability to work in a standard office environment (see physical demands)
