The Finance Manager, Supply Chain & Operations will serve as a key business partner to the leadership teams of Manufacturing, Logistics, and Supply Chain. This role is responsible for providing financial stewardship, analytical insights, and strategic guidance to optimize performance, manage costs, and support data-driven decision-making across the company\'s operational functions. Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A):
Lead the financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for the supply chain, manufacturing, and logistics departments. Conduct in-depth financial analysis of operational performance, including variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year results. Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic initiatives, such as network optimization, capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects, and cost-saving initiatives. Provide timely and accurate financial reporting and presentations to senior management, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities.
Cost Management and Optimization:
Act as a co-pilot to operational leaders, challenging assumptions and providing financial insights to drive cost reduction and efficiency improvements. Manage and control operational costs, including direct and indirect labor, materials, overhead, freight, and warehousing expenses. Conduct financial reviews of manufacturing plant performance, analyzing key metrics like cost of goods sold (COGS), conversion costs, and production variances. Partner with Procurement to analyze and manage raw material costs and with Logistics to optimize transportation and distribution costs.
Strategic Business Partnering:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Sales, to align financial goals with business objectives. Provide financial support for major projects, such as new product launches, facility expansions, or technology implementations, by developing business cases and financial justification. Influence business decisions by providing clear, data-driven recommendations and challenging the status quo. Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and scorecards to monitor and report on operational and financial health.
Inventory and Working Capital Management:
Analyze inventory levels, turns, and obsolescence, and collaborate with the supply chain team to improve inventory management and working capital efficiency. Provide financial oversight of physical inventory counts and cycle counts to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records. Identify opportunities to improve cash flow through optimization of payables and receivables within the supply chain.
Process Improvement and Controls:
Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting, leveraging technology and automation where possible. Ensure strong financial controls and governance are in place across all operational functions to mitigate risks. Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to operational finances.
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
Bachelor\'s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. An MBA or professional certification (CPA, CMA) is often preferred. Experience:
Proven experience (5+ years) in a finance role, with a significant portion of that experience focused on supporting supply chain, manufacturing, or operations. Technical Skills:
Strong financial modeling and analytical skills. Proficiency with financial systems (e.g., ERP, planning tools) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts to non-finance professionals. Strong business acumen and an understanding of operational processes. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset. Leadership and influencing skills to drive change and accountability.
