Overview
Brown & Brown is seeking an Account Executive to join our growing team in Portland, OR. Responsible for account management, direct sales and customer service support to the sales team using a variety of skills and knowledge of the insurance market, products, and competition. Compensation can include commission in addition to base salary, at the Profit Center’s discretion, and who may participate in the TOP GUN program. Account Executives are given sales goals and objectives; decision-making and discretion are used in acquiring and renewing accounts. Responsibilities
Promote growth through the sale of new accounts Manage and retain existing book of business and pursue new opportunities for the book, including a specific growth business plan Develop and pursue cross-selling opportunities with Senior Customer Account Managers Obtain prospects and actively pursue and create interest by making calls, writing letters, or through personal visits Document sales and prospecting information into the sales management database Maintain and actively work a database of active prospects by identifying business needs and proposing company products and services Monitor level of customer service and assist with claim issues as needed Handle and resolve customer complaints and problems Encourage teamwork and communication among those who service customers Set regularly scheduled meetings appropriate for each customer Present proposals to customers, ensuring appropriate team members and resources are represented/attend Assist the Customer Account Managers with the collection of receivables Maintain good relations with carrier personnel Stay current on marketplace changes and inform customers as necessary Become significantly involved and develop expertise in a declared sector or market area through networking and professional development activities Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in business or a financial-related field preferred; three (3) years of related insurance experience; other combinations of work and/or education will be considered Basic understanding of insurance and business terminology preferred Must be assertive, without being overly aggressive Excellent telephone demeanor with above-average empathy; able to read non-verbal cues and respond accordingly Highly self-confident and able to rebound from rejection Proficient with Microsoft Windows, Office 365, Word, and Excel AMS360 experience or ability to learn software quickly Benefits & Well-Being
