The Sales Manager position is responsible for the overall management and execution of operational excellence for the entire store, with additional focus on supervision and management of team members in Hardlines and Softlines Sales (which include Camping, Fishing & Hunting, Outdoor, Firearms, Apparel, Footwear and Team Sports). It directs and coordinates activities through subordinate team leads and other team members. It is a leadership position and is expected to effectively drive the overall performance of the store through the supervision, communication and coordination of the team members. Through this work, the Sales Manager leads the team and drives goals that directly impact customer satisfaction, store profitability, and Academy’s purpose. Education

Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Work Experiences

At least three years of relevant work experience required. Demonstrated success in leading overall departments of up to 40 people to drive operational excellence and sales targets. Skills

Exceptional supervisory and management skills; ability to coach department members on store policies, protocols and expectations; leads by example and drives performance. Excellent customer service orientation. Effective problem solving and communication with customers and team members. Strong business acumen with understanding of business implications of decisions, knowledge of market and competition and profitability targets. Reads, analyzes and interprets general business materials, procedures, or regulations. Clear, positive, persuasive communication; active listening with various stakeholders. Writes reports, business correspondence and procedures. Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups. Reasonable decision-making abilities. Working knowledge of inventory software, order processing systems, payroll systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel). Basic mathematical computations and following written/oral instructions. Key Responsibilities

Full-time position averaging 45-50 hours/week. Overall management responsibility for the execution and operational excellence of the entire store. Management responsibility for Hardlines and Softlines Sales, including participation in personnel decisions (hiring, training, discipline, termination and development). Provide departmental direction to Hardlines and Softlines Sales teams and daily oversight to Team Leads and team members to ensure exceptional customer service. Develop and implement strategies to achieve weekly and monthly operational goals; manage sales, staffing, training, payroll hours and scheduling. Manage workforce productivity, efficiency and process improvement projects. Ensure compliance with sales, safety and security practices and procedures in accordance with regulations. Oversee departmental zoning and adherence to standards. Perform assignments as delegated by the Store Director; participate in floor walks and implement changes based on feedback. Audit firearm sales in compliance with federal and state law, including ATF Form 4473 and background checks; act as final approver for these processes. Complete Firearms Sales Certification training and Power Industrial Truck Certification training. Participate in Academy Leadership University; supervise the team member lifecycle including hiring, onboarding, development and coaching. Learn, understand and enforce company policies, procedures and safety rules. Adhere to company work hours and policies applicable to management-level employees. Other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements & Attendance

Regularly able to talk or hear; frequently able to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with arms. Occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required: close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
