The Payroll Manager oversees all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring compliance with union contracts, federal, and state regulations. This critical role supports our construction operations by maintaining accurate financial records, resolving payroll issues promptly, and delivering exceptional service to employees and stakeholders. Base pay range

$75,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr Expected Outcomes

Timely and accurate paychecks processed within 48 hours of timecard submission with

Financial records reconciled monthly with zero discrepancies. Monthly and quarterly tax reporting. High internal and external customer satisfaction, measured by feedback surveys or response times under 24 hours. Verification requests (e.g., employment, wage) completed within 2 business days. Position Responsibilities

Payroll Processing Set up new employees in payroll system; maintain and update employee records (e.g., exemptions, deductions, terminations). Review and validate union rate information from contracts. Verify time entries on payroll timecards for accuracy. Balance and finalize payroll runs; distribute paychecks via email and direct deposit. Prepare lay-off checks as needed; manage blank check inventory securely. Compliance & Reporting Reconcile wage garnishments, child support, and other deductions. Prepare and submit monthly union welfare reports; process payments through Accounts Payable. Generate and submit certified payroll reports for government agencies. Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly withholding taxes. Assist with union welfare audits and annual external audits. Complete bid wage forms for the estimating department. Employee Support & Issue Resolution Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies or employee inquiries promptly. Respond to requests for employment or wage verifications from agencies or third parties. Additional Duties Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., applicable state/federal laws). Collaborate with HR and Finance to improve payroll processes. Perform other duties as assigned by the Office Manager. Essential Skills and Experience

Education & Experience

Associates' degree in accounting, business, or related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum 5 years of union payroll processing experience in the construction industry. Technical Skills

Proficiency in SAGE Intacct (Payroll Module); experience with other ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks) a plus. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Knowledge & Compliance

In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, and union pay practices. Soft Skills

Exceptional time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail. Strong communication (oral and written) and customer service orientation. Proven investigative and problem-solving skills; proactive and energetic approach. Ability to build and maintain effective relationships across diverse teams. Other
