The Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity (CVOEO) invites you to join a new Family Shelter in Chittenden County, Vermont. The Family Shelter will be a 24/7 shelter for 8 to 10 families with children experiencing homelessness. Responsibilities

Provide client-centered, trauma-informed support to families experiencing homelessness with the goal of empowering them to access safe, sustainable housing. Help families secure housing and access essential benefits; refer to employment, medical, mental health, and substance use disorder services. Address barriers to housing and collaborate with partner agencies to address those barriers. Work with families to promote a sense of community; maintain a flexible schedule and local travel as required. On-call role as part of the position. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in social or human services or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with families and children experiencing homelessness or living in economic poverty; knowledge of causes/effects of homelessness, affordable housing, poverty, economic justice and multiple oppressions affecting economically vulnerable groups. Effective verbal and written communication skills; bilingual abilities are a plus. Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, access to reliable transportation, and willingness/ability to travel within the CVOEO service area. How to Apply
