Position Summary
Washington State Nurses Association is seeking a committed professional attorney with specialized experience in labor and employment law, dealing primarily with the relationships between employers and unions. Candidates with expertise in collective bargaining, both public and private, are preferred—experience to include contract negotiations, drafting, and preparation. Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills within and across departments and externally are required. Must be able to work independently and as a team player with flexibility, and be willing to work on a broad range of legal matters. Washington State Bar Admission required. Four to six years’ experience in labor law preferred. The applicant should have excellent research, writing, and analytical skills, be able to multitask and manage multiple projects, be capable of handling assignments with minimal supervision, and work well in a collegial setting with other attorneys and staff. Ability to travel extensively, including occasional overnight stays, is required. Responsibilities
Represent the organization in labor and employment matters, with emphasis on collective bargaining for both public and private sectors. Engage in contract negotiations, drafting, and preparation related to labor agreements. Provide legal guidance on labor relations, advocacy, and related legal strategies. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to advance organizational objectives. Qualifications
Washington State Bar Admission is required. Four to six years of experience in labor law is preferred. Experience in collective bargaining, contract negotiations, drafting, and preparation. Strong research, writing, and analytical abilities; excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to multitask, manage multiple projects, and work with minimal supervision in a collegial environment. Willingness to travel extensively, including occasional overnight stays. Compensation and Benefits
Base pay range: $100,080.00/yr - $195,200.00/yr Pay Range and Benefit Description: WSNA Labor Counsel is a job classification subject to the WSNA-Teamsters Local #117 Contract provisions. The salary range for this position is $100,076 - $195,199. Placement within the range is based on qualifications and professional experience. WSNA provides a generous benefit package that includes employer-paid individual health, dental, vision, and life insurance, fifteen paid holidays, 12 personal days per year, twenty-two vacation days per year, one day of sick leave per month, and participation in a defined-benefit pension plan.
