Overview
Be part of a team that helps foster youth reach permanency and stability. As the Bilingual Family Support Counselor, you will provide culturally-sensitive, trauma-informed, and family-centered services to support a client and their family to achieve care plan goals. The Support Counselor works to stabilize youth in foster care placements by providing mental health support, skill building, crisis intervention, and case management. Primary responsibilities include acting as a behavioral coach and mentor to clients referred into the program and collaborating with the clinician to support resource (foster) parents in their role. Seneca’s Resource Family Programs serves as a foster family agency and the mental health provider to provide integrated services to youth in foster care and to resource (foster) parents. Our program serves children and non-minor dependents with intensive behavioral, therapeutic, and/or medical needs, including youth who may be stepping down or at risk of residential treatment. The goal is to meet the complex needs of youth while working with youth’s natural supports and county partners to help youth establish relational and physical permanency. About Seneca

Support youth and families to work toward identified treatment goals and coordinate care among treatment team members. Support resource parents in implementing client treatment goals and guide them in helping clients acquire new skills and appropriate behavioral responses. Provide mental health interventions, skill building, crisis intervention, and case management to ensure successful placement of clients in foster care homes and connection to community resources. Participate in emergency on-call response as scheduled. Participate in treatment reviews, program staff meetings, in-service trainings, and IEP meetings when necessary. Complete agency and county documents (mental health notes, incident reports) timely and with dignity for youth and families. Assist with planning transportation for school, therapy, and court hearings. Attend weekly individual and group supervision with the program supervisor and staff meetings. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree OR Associate degree or equivalent plus 1 year of applicable experience OR High School Diploma/GED plus 2 years of applicable experience in programs not requiring a Bachelor’s degree Applicable experience including paid or unpaid work with youth or families, or in social services Bilingual Spanish/English required At least 1 year of experience with youth in out-of-home care or youth with emotional/behavioral needs Cultural humility and ability to work with diverse populations, including LGBTQ+ youth Rotating emergency on-call system, scheduled with supervisor At least 21 years of age TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any state/federal licensing or certification requirements Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, insurability through Seneca’s policy Schedule
Full-time; Monday – Friday 9am–5:30pm Flexibility to provide occasional nights and weekends Hybrid; in-person services and remote documentation On-call shifts 2 days per month Benefits
