The Basics Of This Position Provide direct psychological counseling services to St. Louis Community College students focusing on short-term (and in limited cases longer term) individual and group mental health interventions, crisis interventions, and collaborative referrals to campus and community partners that promote student success and retention. Primary areas of intervention include, but are not limited to: anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationships, stress, suicidality, and surviving trauma. Counselors also provide mental health consultation, training, outreach, and educational workshops for students, faculty, and staff. Counselors are expected to work within the ethical guidelines of the American Counseling Association and applicable Missouri statutes and remain current in their licensure and counseling skills through professional development activities. What You'll Do Assess and triage the mental health needs of student clients. Diagnose, counsel, and/or treat student clients based on individualized assessment of their needs utilizing a variety of counseling modalities and inclusive theoretical perspectives. Develop and implement student client treatment plans and maintain appropriate clinical records to ensure client progress. Respond appropriately to student crisis interventions; may serve in an on-call capacity as needed. Maintain confidentiality of client records and treatment information. Collaborate with campus and community partners to refer clients to other resources or providers as needed to maintain continuity of care and promote student success and retention. Provide training, outreach, and consultation for students, faculty, and staff that promote student mental health and well-being. Deliver mental health educational workshops that are well designed, relevant, and professionally presented for the intended audience. Comply with all departmental and institutional administrative procedures and safety protocols, as well as applicable professional, ethical, and legal standards. Assess effectiveness of mental health interventions, programs, and services; analyze quantitative and qualitative data to improve counseling services for students. Liaison with other student affairs and academic departments to promote a collective understanding of how all faculty and staff contribute to students’ mental health and well-being. Complete all data requests, reports, administrative paperwork, etc. accurately and on time. Participate in campus and college-wide meetings, initiatives, and ceremonies; engage in relevant community events and activities. Serve as active member on a variety of campus or college committees, Care Teams, or task forces as appropriate. Contribute to departmental initiatives and annual priorities; assist departmental colleagues, department chair, and the Vice President of Student Support Programs with other duties and tasks as needed or directed. Education, Experience, And Other Requirements Master’s Degree in Counseling or related area. At least one (1) year of supervised professional experience. Current licensure as a mental health provider in the state of Missouri. Preferred Qualifications Specific training, experience, or interest in working with college students to promote student success and completion. Doctorate (Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology) Senioriy level:
