Overview

Paralegal assisting civil litigation team with research, deposition support, trial preparation, discovery, and document drafting for submission to court, along with other administrative functions. Responsibilities

Draft pleadings, motions, orders, writ of summons, and case information statements to file with court and serve upon opposing parties. Draft interrogatories, requests for admissions, requests for production of documents, and requests for examination or inspection. Assist with preparation of briefs to court; review history, and proofs briefs for spelling, syntax, consistency, and textual integrity. Maintain repository and/or database for current court rulings. Collect, organize, and maintain form files including model pleadings, motions, and checklists. Maintain litigation docket, calendar, or tickler system, noting deadlines for responsive pleadings and motions, court appearances, and other important deadlines. Obtain, review, organize and analyze preliminary documentation and information supporting County claims. Meet with witnesses, coordinate collection and review of witness files; gather, organize, summarize, and analyze factual data. Obtain written reports/analysis of physical evidence, injuries, issues, and financial evaluations from experts. Draft outline for questions for examining witnesses at depositions; review and assemble documents to be used in depositions. Assist with and coordinate the discovery process to ensure relevant information is provided to opposing party and that Dallas County has the information requested. Assist attorney at trial preparation by maintaining a list of exhibits as identified, offered into evidence, and noting developments of cases. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications

Education, Experience and Training: Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a job-related field of study. Two (2) years additional job-related experience. Special Requirements: Certified Paralegal preferred. Knowledge of online legal research services. Must pass criminal background investigation.
