PSCS A/ D Supervised Counselor

The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department. The main purpose of this position is to provide substance abuse assessment and/or placement consultation to selected offenders under the jurisdiction of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, Division of Parole and Probation. Conduct substance abuse assessments to determine the level of substance abuse dependency for offenders Determine the most appropriate level of intervention, and most appropriate treatment modality for each offender assessed, and make referrals through Assessment & Placement's Treatment Secretary Reviews information in OCMS including agent notes and court order, reviews offender's rap sheet, and drug testing results in Redwood to assist in determining the appropriate level of intervention along with the completed ASI Prepare necessary forms and associated paperwork so a completed assessment packet has been submitted/uploaded at the completion of the assessment process Submit completed assessments and any related documentation, on time, to unit supervisor for review, within established deadlines Minimum Qualifications : Applicants must meet all minimum qualifications and license requirements to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Education : Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Supervised Counselors-Alcohol and Drug. Experience : Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Supervised Counselors-Alcohol and Drug. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07, candidates appointed to positions in this classification must be eligible for and obtain certification by the Board of Professional Counselors as a Certified Supervised Counselor prior to permanent appointment. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. Special Requirements Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs. Employees in this classification perform the work in a Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) or a Maryland State certified addictions program.
