Marten Law is seeking an experienced and well-rounded legal assistant to work full-time with the attorneys and staff to support our growing environmental, energy, and natural resource law practice. The successful applicant must reside in or near Washington, DC, or be willing to relocate. The position typically requires four in-office days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday), with work-from-home options generally available on Wednesdays. Firm Overview

Our offices are located in Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Boise, ID; Washington, D.C.; San Francisco, CA; and Toronto, Canada. Legal Assistants are crucial to our success, enhancing our productivity and efficiency by managing the work of our busy attorneys. We seek a smart, hard-working individual with at least three years’ experience in a law firm, government agency, or environmental organization. Exceptional candidates with less experience may also be considered. Responsibilities

Support attorneys by formatting, proofreading, and quality controlling legal documents such as pleadings, notices, discovery, subpoenas, and trial binders. Finalize court documents for service and filing. File pleadings, motions, and responses promptly in federal and state courts nationwide, adhering to specific court rules. Arrange service of process. Review court rules and deadlines diligently. Organize and maintain case files physically and electronically. Access court documents via PACER and other sources. Manage case deadlines and documentation. Utilize FTP sites for file sharing. Assist in litigation support, including depositions, court appearances, mediations, and trials. Prepare tables of contents and authorities. Organize materials for meetings, hearings, and presentations. Draft correspondence and handle client, attorney, and court communications professionally. Manage document revisions and comparisons. Maintain attorney calendars and provide office management support. Collaborate with colleagues to meet firm needs. Qualifications

Minimum three years' experience in a law firm or similar setting. Associate or Bachelor’s degree required. Interest in environmental issues strongly preferred. Strong work ethic, professionalism, and positive attitude. Exceptional attention to detail and initiative. Ability to work well under stress and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro; experience with legal software like NetDocuments, SharePoint, and docketing software is a plus. Benefits

Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 5 pm, with occasional overtime. Salary range: $70,000 - $110,000+, depending on experience. Health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance options.
