The Certified Court Interpreter plays a vital role in supporting the judicial court by: Duties include the interpretation and translation of oral statements, testimony, and written documents presented in either Spanish or English. A certified Court Interpreter serves as the official Interpreter and translator daily for first appearances, arraignments, preliminary hearings, trials & court proceedings for non-English speaking defendants, witnesses, and victims. Translates forms and documents utilized in court proceedings and participates in workshops for court interpreters. This position reports to the Supervising Court Interpreter and provides English-to-Spanish (and vice versa) interpreting & translation services to ensure due process in legal proceedings throughout the 16th Judicial Circuit in Monroe County, Florida. This position will be expected to be thoroughly familiar with and comply fully with the Code of Professional Conduct as set forth in FLORIDA RULES FOR CERTIFICATION AND REGULATION OF SPOKEN LANGUAGE COURT INTERPRETERS The position does require the Interpreter to travel to the Marathon Branch Courthouse in Marathon, Florida. Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited law school Membership in the Florida Bar is preferred (Applicants awaiting bar results or planning to take the Florida Bar must become a member within one year of hire) Education and Training Guidelines
This position requires valid certificate as a Certified Court Interpreter issued by the Florida Supreme Court, Office of the State Courts Administrator. Applicants who are selected as court interpreters. but who are not certified at the time of court employment, must become certified within one year of being employed in a court interpreting position. Salary
$78,070.00 annually*, includes a Cost Area Differential (CAD) Applicants who are selected as court interpreters, but who are not certified at the time of court employment, must become certified within one year of being employed in a court interpreting position. Benefits
