Our Corporate Paralegal will assist in managing the pre-litigation and litigation process and case load, while working independently on resolving small to medium sized/complex legal matters. They will also provide advanced support to attorneys in the Legal Department and internal clients (Rollins Support Center/Corporate managers and the field operations managers).

The Paralegal II will seek opportunities for innovation and collaboration across departments to support litigation and compliance initiatives.

Responsibilities You Will be Responsible For…

Case Management/Reporting

Support Litigation and Compliance team with management of cases, disputes, and projects on wide variety of topics including general litigation, compliance, employment, regulatory, government investigations, class actions, and others

Manage and support litigation and claims updates in CounselLink and other systems and internal reporting; make status/strategy updates to litigation matters in CounselLink and other systems of internal reporting

Manage internal discovery functions by preserving, collecting and producing documents and data in coordination with Legal Department, Risk Management Department, and outside counsel; including e-discovery and managing outside vendors on large scale discovery and document production requests

Support receipt and distribution of Service of Processes sent to the Company

Independently manage small claims, developing defenses and preparing witnesses and field personnel

Handle subpoenas for deposition and/or production of Company documents where the Company is not a named party; oversee document collection, review, and production

Independently handle and resolve customer service complaints for operations managers

Prepare and distribute Notices of Litigation for new litigation matters to appropriate Company teammates

Manage eDiscovery, e-mail, legal and document preservation holds to meet Company’s business/legal needs; manage and analyze Company documents retention and destruction policies

Manage integration and specific customer design criteria for Department’s matter management system

Discovery Management and Legal Research

Coordinate with IT, in-house counsel, and outside counsel to establish and monitor required legal holds on user accounts for email retention related to litigation matters

Serve as team lead for outside counsel to work with the Law Department to plan and execute electronic discovery projects through the litigation lifecycle

Formulate defense strategies to respond to discovery requests, locating, identifying and analyzing documents and information responsive to requests and work with outside counsel to respond/object to requests

Identify key Company witnesses for depositions, small claims, and trial; make strategy recommendations in preparation of witnesses to testify; analyze testimony of witnesses, make recommendations on further defense tactics in light of testimony

Interview key witnesses and prepare written summary of critical evidence

Contact internal clients (RSC and the field) directly to collect and prepare documents needed to respond to discovery in a lawsuit or in an administrative/regulatory proceeding

Assist attorneys in the Legal Department in the handling of internal (Home Office) and external (field and outside counsel) requests for information and advice on customer complaints or inquiries, litigation and administrative/regulatory proceedings

Conduct case specific research using internal Company databases (BOSS, DocView, JD Edwards, intranet), external databases (Westlaw), and internet websites

Compliance

Act as team leader on special projects to support the Legal Department’s compliance initiatives

Research and evaluate business practices and procedures as requested

Develop improved policies to ensure Company’s legal compliance objectives

Work with the attorneys in Legal Department to systematically audit and revise policies and procedures Company-wide to ensure ongoing compliance; prepare report of findings for executive management

Support annual financial audit process (meet with independent auditor to address and answer questions, prepare customized internal reports needed for audit, and direct outside counsel for submission of responses)

Support Legal Department’s litigation process to maximize audit compliance

Support Company’s record retention protocol

Audit CounselLink for compliance with internal Legal Department processes

Other Opportunities

Participate in Department and Company teams and committees on continuous improvement initiatives

Coordinate with other paralegals in the Legal Department to ensure “back up” during absences

Perform other duties as assigned by attorneys in Legal Department

Qualifications The Experience You Will Bring (Minimum Requirements):

Associates or Bachelor’s degree

5+ years of Legal experience including some experience in a varied corporate environment or firm

Litigation paralegal experience required

Superior knowledge of litigation processes and documents and ability to perform legal research

Proficient in management of eDiscovery

Routine exercise of independent discretion and judgment in decision-making on significant matters

Knowledge of litigation and compliance management, technical programming skills and experience with eDiscovery

What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

Paralegal Certificate preferred, but not required

Experience with Enterprise Legal Management Software such as CounselLink preferred

Physical Demands / Working Environment:

We require the ability to pass a drug screen and background checks. Candidates must have the ability to perform the requirements of the job with or without accommodations.

Must be local to the Atlanta metro area or willing to self-relocate to the area.
