Job Description The Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE) Network Control Technician is responsible for administration, maintenance, and cybersecurity defense of all Navy Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN) client, server, and network infrastructure used to support enterprise-wide modeling and simulation applications and services for the NITE.

The candidate will work in close coordination with other team members and departments to update, monitor and maintain servers, workstations, and network devices used throughout the enterprise. Additional duties include performing Microsoft Windows client/server administration, maintenance, patching, and configuring systems in compliance with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG). Individual must be able to work independently and work within a team.

Position requires flexibility to work occasional non-standard work hours and work weeks of more than 40 hours to meet business, customer, and contractual requirements. Additionally, position requires flexibility as duties and responsibilities may be adjusted to meet business, customer, and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities

Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot network connectivity and infrastructure on the Navy Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN).

Support the operation and maintenance of multiple networks across different classification levels; ensure continuous network connectivity for customers and sites.

Serve in the Northwest Tactical Training Range IT department; provide helpdesk-style network operations support and troubleshooting of WAN circuits, devices, firewall ACLs, VoIP registrations, and cryptographic device configurations.

Coordinate with Navy, DISA, and commercial circuit providers for implementation and troubleshooting; maintain Information Assurance compliance including IOS upgrades and network device changes.

Support remote sites in restoring network failures.

Minimum Qualifications

2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years with Masters; or High School Diploma/equivalent with 6 years relevant experience.

Security+ or equivalent certification required.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance.

Experience installing and troubleshooting WAN and LAN network equipment and circuits.

Ability to troubleshoot network issues at the protocol/packet level using sniffers, protocol analyzers, NetFlow, logging, etc.

Technical network troubleshooting and critical thinking skills across multiple systems.

Knowledge of Cisco IP networking (subnets, VLANs, routing protocols, Cisco IOS).

Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals, OSI model, and frame/packet structure.

Experience in a network operations center environment including help desk and ticketing.

Experience in network security technologies including port-security/802.1x.

Must be willing to work periodic shifted schedules including evenings, nights, and weekends.

Preferred Requirements

CCNA Certification or equivalent strongly preferred.

Experience in monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting ASA firewall ACLs.

Familiarity with Cisco VoIP, PoE switches and Call Manager.

Experience with NSA Type 1 cryptographic devices, particularly KG-175D.

Experience with network and performance monitoring tools (SolarWinds, etc.).

Physical Requirements Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
