Overview
Senior Network Engineer-EN at CAE. Participates in design, implementation and support of network platforms and solutions to ensure the enterprise network complies with company and user requirements. Works with management to identify gaps in knowledge/experience within the team to support optimal network operations and business continuity.
Responsibilities
Architect, design, security, integration and management of network systems
Provide ongoing daily support and optimization of enterprise data network systems
Proficiency in multivendor environments for configuration of SD-WAN, firewalls, IPS/IDS, VPN, routers, wireless, and switches (Cisco, Arista, Aruba, etc.)
Proactively identify needs for improvements, capacity changes and upgrades; plan and implement upgrades and patches
Maintain change management documentation for hardware and software modifications
Collaborate with IT team, IT management and Business Unit leaders to define and manage the IT Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) for enterprise platforms and systems
Troubleshoot, analyze and resolve faults in the operational network; serve as escalation SME during outages
Support network compliance and risk management activities
Proactively collect, analyze, and report on network health and other statistics
Evaluate and recommend new and emerging technologies in the networking domain
Collaborate with IT management and IT purchasing to support negotiation and management of carrier services, software and hardware maintenance contracts
Plan for hardware/software replacement and growth with IT management
Serve as a technical lead/mentor for junior network engineers; participate in team-based activities
Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation within IT networking team
Qualifications And Education
BS degree in a computer-related field with 8 years of network and operating system experience, or AA degree with 10 years of related experience (2 years = 1 full year of college studies)
Experience with ACLs, VLANs, DNS, IPAM, Port Security, Traffic Shaping, QoS, IP routing, SD-WAN, load-balancing, etc.
Strong understanding of Layer 2 and 3 protocols (Spanning Tree, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
Experience with network monitoring/troubleshooting using tools like PRTG, Wireshark
Experience with SIEM and other cybersecurity tools (Netflow analysis, vulnerability analysis)
Experience supporting hybrid cloud network infrastructure (on-prem, AWS, Azure Gov)
Design, provisioning and troubleshooting WAN/LAN/WLAN and security technologies
Extensive knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6; Cisco or Arista routing and switching
Experience with 802.1X, PKI, RADIUS, SYSLOG, TACACS, etc.; Cisco routers (ASR/ISR); Palo Alto security technologies
Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills; ability to interface with CAE users and customers; ability to work with minimal supervision; willingness to work weekends/evenings as needed
Preferred Skills
CCNP or Arista ACE L5
Experience with Arista SD-WAN
Experience with Cisco hardware/software (ASA, ACS/ISE, Prime, UCS)
Experience with Infoblox IPAM
Experience with Arista CloudVision Platform
Experience with Palo Alto Networks hardware and software (NGFW, Panorama, Site-to-Site VPN, Client VPN)
Security Responsibilities Must comply with all company security and data protection policies and procedures. Responsible for proper marking and handling of information; no disclosure to unauthorized individuals. All government and proprietary information stored electronically on company resources.
Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance
Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.
Work Environment
Duties performed in an office environment and manufacturing facility
Must be able to work overtime and on-call as required; on-call 24x7 for problem resolution
Physical Demands
Regularly sit, talk or hear; use computers and standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms
Able to support rack-mounted equipment (up to 7 feet tall)
