Assist in administering medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of the physician, the nurse supervisor or charge nurse, and RCC Services. Ensure administration is in accordance with established nursing standards, community policies and procedures, and state requirements. Comply with the Community’s personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures; comply with the nursing department’s policies and procedures. Report allegations of resident abuse/neglect to the Executive Director, RCC or Unit Manager; treat residents, family members, visitors, and team members with respect and dignity. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident and family information. Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room; ensure medications are properly labeled and stored per policy. Accurately and safely prepare, administer, and document medications; document and report any errors immediately. Follow policies regarding destruction, removal, and holding of medications; honor residents’ right to refuse medications. Observe and verify medication ingestion or application; document refusals and reasons when applicable; notify nurse staff of refusals or reactions. Verify written, signed orders before administration and confirm resident identity prior to treatment. Support self-administration by residents when applicable and assist in monitoring and documenting all aspects of self-administration. Follow safety precautions and use personal protective equipment as required; wash hands before and after service; report hazardous conditions. Assist residents with daily hygiene and activities of daily living as needed; assist CNAs when required. Essential Job Duties / Physical Requirements
Regular worksite attendance. Must have a valid Medication Manager certificate. Basic computer skills. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Ability to work beyond normal hours, including weekends and holidays when necessary. Ability to assist in evacuation of residents during emergencies. Ability to perform essential position functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Meet general health requirements per state regulations and company policy (may include medical/physical examinations). Physical abilities: lift up to 10 lbs constantly; lift 11-25 lbs constantly; lift 26-50 lbs frequently; lift over 50 lbs frequently; carry up to 10 lbs constantly; carry 11-25 lbs occasionally; carry 26-50 lbs occasionally; carry over 50 lbs occasionally; reach various heights; push/pull; hand manipulation (grasping, handling, torquing, fingering); and other physical considerations including twisting, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling, crouching, climbing, balancing. Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and hostile individuals; vision and hearing capability or use of prosthetics as needed. Job Details
