Client: Cummins Onsite: 5 days in Columbus, IN (Cummins Office) Bill Rate: $85/hr (inclusive of your fees/margins) Contractual role: Duration - 12+ months Must have: Powertrain HIL testing, on-truck testing experience Matlab/Simulink Control systems Embedded C Python Key Responsibilities: Develop, execute, and maintain HIL test cases for vehicle control systems (engine, transmission, braking, ADAS, etc.). Conduct truck-level system integration and validation testing for control systems in real-world conditions. Support test planning, test execution, and defect tracking across HIL and vehicle environments. Configure and maintain HIL test benches, ensuring accurate simulation of vehicle systems and signals. Analyze test results, identify root causes of issues, and work with software and hardware teams to resolve them. Validate embedded control algorithms and software functionalities against system requirements. Document test procedures, results, and provide clear reporting to stakeholders. Collaborate with calibration, software, and hardware engineering teams to ensure system-level performance. Contribute to process improvements in HIL testing and vehicle validation workflows. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field. Hands-on experience with HIL platforms (e.g., dSPACE, NI Veristand, ETAS, or similar). Strong understanding of control systems, embedded software, and vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay). Experience in vehicle-level testing, preferably in trucks or heavy-duty vehicles. Proficiency in tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, CANalyzer, or CANoe. Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Preferred Skills: Experience in automotive functional safety (ISO 26262) or cybersecurity (ISO 21434). Familiarity with ADAS, electric vehicle, or hybrid system testing. Knowledge of test automation and scripting (Python, CAPL, etc.). Background in powertrain or vehicle dynamics control systems.
