Overview
Kratos is seeking a
Test Engineer
to support the development, integration, and execution of test strategies for the
AN/SPY-1 radar system , with a focus on validating restored and modernized subsystems including the transmitter, signal processor, and antenna. The Test Engineer will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), depot and lab personnel, and Navy stakeholders to define test requirements, design procedures, and implement verification strategies that ensure radar subsystem performance and readiness. This role is key to establishing long-term organic test capability within Kratos facilities and government depots. Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute
test plans, procedures, and scripts
for radar subsystem and component-level testing. Lead design of
test configurations and instrumentation setups
for restored or prototype equipment, including environmental and RF tests. Collaborate with subsystem SMEs (antenna, transmitter, signal processor) to ensure coverage of critical performance parameters. Support
hardware-in-the-loop testing , near-field antenna measurements, RF alignment, and calibration procedures. Design and document
test benches , interface harnessing, and signal emulation methods for legacy hardware verification. Integrate and validate
AI/ML-enabled test tools
and automated test stations where appropriate. Ensure test processes comply with
DoD/Navy test standards , including
NAVSEA METCAL , MIL-STD-461/810, and applicable radar-specific specifications. Participate in root cause investigations, regression testing, and resolution of non-conformance issues. Assist in the
development of Integrated Test Plans (ITPs)
and test traceability to system-level requirements and specifications. Support planning for Phase 3 and 4 activities including prototype validation, depot stand-up, and verification of GFI repairs. Role is located in Crane, Indiana or remote for candidates willing to travel. Keywords:
AN/SPY-1, AEGIS Required Experience: Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Minimum of
5 years of experience
in
test engineering , preferably with
DoD radar, RF, or electronic warfare systems . Proficiency in
RF testing, signal integrity verification, and use of test equipment
(spectrum/network analyzers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers). Experience developing and executing test procedures in accordance with military or aerospace standards. Ability to interpret and validate technical data, schematics, and test documentation. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Active

Clearance Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience supporting
AN/SPY-1 or AEGIS Weapon System
radar components. Familiarity with
automated test systems (ATS)
and
LabVIEW, TestStand , or similar platforms. Understanding of
Open Systems Architecture (OSA)
and digital engineering test integration. Knowledge of
ordnance alteration (ORDALT)
testing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), or depot acceptance testing (DAT). Active
