Machining and Integration Specialist

University of Oklahoma The Sooner's Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory's Machining and Integration Specialist will support the fabrication and integration of components using additive and traditional manufacturing equipment available in the lab. This individual will program and operate various metal additive manufacturing, and CNC machines to produce finished components, fixturing, and tooling integral to the production of various engineering systems. This individual will also assist in electrical and mechanical integration to support research projects and educational activities. Programs and operates 3D Metal Printers, CNC Router, CNC Mill, CNC Water-Jet, and Manual Lathe/Mill. Prepares solid models to input into various CAM systems depending on part requirements. Assists with DFM process by providing component level input regarding manufacturability and material selection. Performs solid modeling of fixturing and workholding components. Conducts assembly, routing, and testing of control and power circuits and hydraulic and pneumatic circuits for various subsystems. Assist with metal additive manufacturing process by providing inputs regarding manufacturability and material selection. Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position. Job Requirements : Bachelor's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering or related field or equivalent military/work experience, AND 36 months of machine tool operation including programming and workholding concepts. 24 months of electrical and/or mechanical experience including assembly, integration, and troubleshooting. Willingness to work as an integral part of a high-energy team of engineers and scientists. Strong desire to learn new technical skills or expand existing skills. Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Ability to multitask effectively in support of multiple projects.
