Area of Finance Position Description The Area of ISQS in the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Assistant Professor of Practice (all ranks) in AI and Data Science, to begin in Fall 2026. This is a renewable position with a potential career path to continuing appointment and promotion to Associate or Full Professor of Practice. The standard teaching load is 3-3. Summer support is available to facilitate teaching or research. The college offers a range of undergraduate, master’s, and PhD programs in business disciplines, including MS in Data Science, MS in Information Systems, and a PhD in Business Administration. The college has a faculty of over 140 and a staff of over 80, serving more than 5,000 undergraduates and 800 graduates. About the Department/School/Area The Area of Information Systems and Quantitative Sciences (ISQS) has a strong research profile and offers a BS in IT, MS-DS, MS-IS, and PhD tracks in MIS. The MS-DS program was ranked No. 3 among online non-MBA programs in 2022. Major/Essential Functions Texas Tech University recruits individuals with exceptional backgrounds and achievements in academic, business, government, or professional practice for the Professor of Practice title. Primary responsibilities typically include teaching, mentoring students for professional and career development, and liaising with professional contacts on behalf of the department. Applicants should have experience with diverse student populations at undergraduate and/or graduate levels in teaching, research, and service. As a faculty member in ISQS, you will be expected to: contribute to the teaching mission at undergraduate and/or graduate levels as needed by the Area; engage with substantial professional experience in the teaching area or conduct scholarly work in refereed journals in areas aligned with the Area; provide service to the Area, college, and university commensurate with rank. Organization Texas Tech University Faculty Qualifications Ph.D. from a related discipline (Information Systems, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Psychology, etc.) by the first day of employment; Evidence of teaching or applying statistics, optimization, and/or simulation methods to solve business problems (teaching while a graduate student counts); A demonstrated record of publishing in peer‑reviewed journals or substantial professional engagement in practice. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching statistics, optimization, and/or simulation tools for decision-making in business settings; Substantial industrial experience in AI, data science, or related areas; Experience teaching or engaging with telecommunication systems, enterprise architecture, system integration, or related fields.
