This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight. Responsibilities
Build and run steady state and transient analytic models of rocket engines and test articles Support rocket engine and component level testing to ensure performance meets requirements and help define iterative upgrades Analyze internal fluid flow problems using advanced lumped parameter models Lead collaboration with component design engineers, chief engineers, and program leaders to develop and refine system models Develop and apply analysis processes and tools using Python and Matlab Work collaboratively with peers to solve problems Provide mentoring and peer review of work to junior engineers, and share knowledge base with other analyst teams Qualifications
Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering 8+ years of engineering experience Thorough understanding of rocket engines, gas turbine engines, internal combustion engines, etc. Thorough understanding and ability to apply engineering fundamentals including thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and power systems Proficient in programming and knowledge of at least one programming/scripting language (Python/MATLAB/etc) 5+ years prior experience with data analysis Curiosity to understand engines at a component and system level Desire to work in a coordinated, fast-paced, and dynamic environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work optimally in and lead teams Ability to be self-directed and balance several tasks at one time Desirable
M.S. degree or higher 5+ years of experience in system modeling Experience in cryogenic propellants Experience with rocket engine development Knowledge of ROCETS, NPSS, GFSSP, Thermal Desktop, or an equivalent system modeling software package Proficiency in Matlab, Python and Fortran Experience with system or performance analysis across the lifecycle of a product or different products Experience with engine qualification and verification Mature understanding of numerical solvers and methods Solid understanding of a variety of propellants Experience working with engine components such as pumps, turbines, injectors, combustors, and valves Compensation
Compensation ranges vary by location: CA applicants is $140,959.00-$197,342.25; WA applicants is $140,959.00-$197,342.25. Other site ranges may differ. Culture and Compliance
