Overview

PACE is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Technician with a comprehensive understanding of advanced electrical, instrumentation and PLC control systems, including fabrication, installation, troubleshooting, repair and commissioning to support our Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) group. The Instrumentation and Controls Technician will support the design, fabrication and deployment of controls and instrumentation in the following market sectors: Potable & Non-Potable Water Production, Storage & Distribution Water & Wastewater Treatment Pumping Facilities Cogeneration & Solar Power Production Water Quality and Environmental Monitoring Recreational Aquatic Facilities Responsibilities and Requirements

Minimum experience At least 3 years of experience performing field commissioning of PLC control panels and troubleshooting and modifying wiring of instrumentation equipment (transducers, transmitters, analyzers, flow meters, VFDs, motor controls and electrically actuated valves) Strong ability to work independently and handle complex tasks with limited supervision Ability to analyze situations, evaluate data and make sound technical decisions Proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word Valid CA driver’s license and insurable driving record Specific skills Good understanding of using testing and troubleshooting equipment (e.g., Fluke) Troubleshoot analog signals and network communications (Ethernet/IP, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP/IP) Install and calibrate advanced instrumentation devices according to manufacturer specifications, schematics and P&IDs Understand wiring schematics and field instrumentation wiring through experience or coursework Preferences (not required but highly desirable) Commercial/industrial electrical experience Design of control panels and instrumentation systems Experience with P&IDs and I/O diagrams Familiarity with Modicon/Allen-Bradley (Unity or RS Logix) Proficiency with AutoCAD Familiarity with SCADA & HMI systems Experience with PC networks (Windows and Apple OS) in an industrial environment Experience with water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping facilities and water storage/conveyance systems Candidate resumes will be evaluated relative to experience and knowledge of all areas listed above. Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee may stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision. Field work and travel with overnight stays may be required. Work Environment

Must have reliable transportation and flexibility to travel with occasional overnight stays in California and surrounding states. The work environment includes both office and field settings with exposure to operating machinery, electrical systems and outdoor conditions in all weather. Travel and external work may be required.
