We are seeking a motivated and qualified research technician to join our team in the Translational Hub. The Translational Hub is an initiative of the Breast Oncology Program to collect biospecimens from breast cancer patients enrolled on our clinical trials and cohort studies. The successful candidate will work closely with clinical investigators to oversee collection, processing, quality assessment and storage of clinical samples, and will be involved with ongoing basic and translational research programs using patient specimens. The role may involve working with postdoctoral or medical fellows performing in vitro and in vivo experiments and the development and validation of culture systems and assays. The position may also oversee daily laboratory activities including ordering and managing the laboratory space. Responsibilities

Set up, adjust, calibrate, clean, maintain and troubleshoot equipment. Clean, maintain and prepare supplies and work areas; may be responsible for ordering supplies and collaborating with Purchasing and vendors. Conduct standardized biological, microbiological or biochemical tests and laboratory analyses, including collection of information and samples from organic substances (e.g., blood, drugs, animals). Isolate, identify and prepare specimens for examination. Analyze experimental data and interpret results; write reports and summaries of findings; participate in grant preparation and presentations; may co-author publications. Participate in grant applications and manuscript preparation as required. Maintain a detailed notebook of all work-related activities. Monitor laboratory work to ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety information and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Stay current with relevant literature and research publications; contribute intellectually to the position. Potentially develop, modify and improve standard operating procedures. Use computers, laboratory instruments, robotics or high-technology applications to perform duties. May design and execute advanced experiments and contribute to strategy. May examine animals and specimens to detect disease or other problems. Monitor laboratory budgets as applicable. Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive, inclusive work environment. Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required with a major in biology or chemistry preferred; knowledge of biology, chemistry or medicine is preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with a wide variety of faculty and staff. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; attention to detail; thoroughness in completing tasks. Ability to work effectively within a team. 2-3 year commitment is preferred. Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Excellent interpersonal skills and openness to collaborating with colleagues from diverse backgrounds. About Dana-Farber
