Job Description
The Inventory Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial reports, records and general ledgers. Specifically, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of inventory bookkeeping, including the preparation of recurring and non-recurring accruals and performing related account reconciliations. The Organization is currently transitioning the Corporate office from San Diego to Dallas and the role initially for 3 months will require up to 75% travel Assist in the documentation and maintenance of inventory sub-processes, including the identification and testing of relevant SOX controls Perform monthly bookkeeping activities, including the preparation of monthly journal entries and related account reconciliations Assist with the preparation of monthly budget vs. actuals variance analyses Actively work with the Inventory Manager, other accounting managers, and accounting staff to develop and operate standard period-end closing schedules and desk procedures Assist with the execution and/or supervision of inventory existence procedures (wall-to-wall physical inventories and/or cycle count procedures) for company managed and third party locations Assist the Director of Accounting with the monitoring and tracking of offsite inventory balances and sales activity. Collaborate with Innovation/Process Improvement team to develop a system solution for tracking this inventory. Work with the Director of Accounting, Operations and Sales teams to streamline and improve existing carrier settlement process Actively work with the Director of Accounting and IT – Enterprise Reporting team in the development and testing of new inventory reports and assist in related user testing Handle non-routine inventory transactions (write up / write down) Prepare LCM reserve calculations and supporting reports Assist with the preparation of schedules and/or reports required by external auditors in connection with the audit of the annual financial statements Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting CPA (strongly preferred, but not required) 3-5 years of experience as an Inventory or Cost Accountant Public accounting experience preferred Manufacturing/Electronics or Distribution industry experience would be advantageous An understanding of GAAP in relation to inventory Proficient in MS Excel Experience with setting up SQL Report Queries would be advantageous Oracle experience preferred Additional Information
