Physical Education and Health Teacher (High School) JobID: 1141 Position Type: High School Teaching/ Physical Education Date Posted: 2/27/2025 Location: iLearn Schools Date Available: 08/11/2025 Position Purpose Under the general supervision of the School Director, to develop students' physical skills and abilities, strength, agility, poise, coordination, and teamwork; to develop students' understanding of the importance of exercise to physical and mental well-being; and to motivate students to work towards physical fitness, hygiene, and good health. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. New Jersey Standard Teaching Certification (CE, CEAS) with subject matter specialization: Health & Physical Education. Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to provide own transportation. Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles. Knowledge of grade specific school curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught. Knowledge of physiology, health and nutrition, biology and biological functions, anatomy, hygiene, exercise, and best ways to promote physical and mental well-being. Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school related matters. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work; parents, students, and faculty etc. Prior to employment, the following must be addressed: Complete a criminal history background check to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person’s offense in accordance with N.J.S.A 18A:6-7.1. Essential Performance Responsibilities: The Physical Education Teacher will: Develop and administer Physical Education classes consistent with school district goals and objectives. Teach knowledge of, and develop skills and abilities in, physical fitness, rhythm and dance, coordination and agility, exercise, and sports. Develop students' concepts in leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and social skills; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and appropriate feedback regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. Conduct ongoing assessment of student growth and progress in physical educational activities, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs. Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or by conducting research. Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws. Assist in coordinating extra-curricular activities, including student performances, assemblies, and athletic events. Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents. Ensure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Coordinate with other professional staff members, especially within physical education and grade level, and participate in faculty meetings and committees. Select and requisition appropriate instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintain inventory records. Inspect equipment and field areas used to ensure they are in good and safe working order. Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. Certification/License: NJ Certification as a Physical Education Teacher. NJ Certification as a Health Teacher preferred. NJ Certification Teacher of Driver's Education preferred. Experience:

Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred. Equipment:

Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone. Travel Requirements:
