Assistant Research Professor of Medical & Molecular Genetics – Pay Competitive – Location Bloomington/Indiana – Employment type Full-Time Responsibilities

Design, execute and/or supervise the bioinformatics projects for the laboratory. Work with large datasets, develop analysis pipelines, perform omics analyses, and use programming and command line tools. Apply machine learning approaches and data visualization tools; develop statistical models with a firm foundation in biological research. Mentor graduate students and technicians and collaborate with laboratory personnel who do not have bioinformatics skills. Develop research projects with strong potential for long-term NIH funding and collaborate with others as needed. Contribute to a highly collegial and interdisciplinary environment across clinical medicine and basic research. Qualifications

Ph.D. degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, quantitative genetics, molecular biology and genomics, or other related research area. Expertise in large datasets, developing analysis pipelines, omics analyses, programming and use of command line tools, machine learning approaches, and data visualization tools. Expertise in developing statistical models; strong foundation in biological research. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to mentor graduate students and technicians and collaborate with colleagues without bioinformatics skills. Desire to develop research projects with potential for long-term NIH funding and ability to collaborate with others. About the Department
