Overview

Join the Residential, Retail and Supply Chain Services (RRSS) team at UC San Diego, supporting a dynamic campus department delivering service to the university community. RRSS includes Housing, Dining and Hospitality (HDH), Integrated Procure-to-Pay Solutions (IPPS), the UC San Diego Bookstore, Triton Print & Digital Media, and the Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC). HDH provides housing and dining services to a large student and faculty community, with a focus on innovation and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities

Act as a working team leader with responsibilities including banquet service, catering deliveries, customer service, on-the-job training and quality control in a catering environment. Follow established procedures in the supervisor’s absence; coordinate with the supervisor to manage banquet setup, customer service, labor hours, and event execution. Provide banquet service according to Catering department standards; may be assigned as Event Lead, Event Manager, Service Expediter, Service Opener, or Service Closer, and may perform related administrative tasks for banquet event orders. Qualifications

Background in culinary arts with skill as a banquet server and ability to present food attractively. Ability to manage staff and equipment in daily routines and in emergencies, and to delegate tasks effectively. Strong communication skills with diverse groups including students, staff, faculty, and guests. Organizational and time-management skills; ability to handle stressful situations and multiple deadlines calmly. Current California Driver's License with a good driving record; writing skills to document procedures and recommendations. Initiative to identify problems, develop solutions, and implement action plans with limited supervision. Mathematical and accounting skills to complete forms and service records accurately and interpret reports for action. Special Conditions

May be required to change work locations daily and to work flexible hours to support Catering schedules. Variable work schedules (including mornings, afternoons, weekends, and 10-hour days); potential time-off restrictions during business needs. Uniform, hair covering, and hygiene requirements; strict attendance expectations.
