Overview
Environmental Engineer, Chemical Engineer or Scientist position located in Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, or Farmington Hills, MI. You will work on environmental compliance projects for industrial clients, providing regulatory assistance, preparing permit applications, conducting site evaluations, and writing detailed reports. Collaborate with industry leaders and government agencies to assess environmental impacts, support regulatory compliance, oversee project regulatory aspects, and propose sustainable solutions. Responsibilities
Water-related permitting, including Groundwater Discharge permits, NPDES permits, Soil Erosion permits, Part 22 permits. Collaborate with other Fishbeck Departments on Special Use, Inland Lake and Stream permits, and Water Withdrawal Use registrations or permits. Create environmental plans including SPCC Plans, PIPPs, HWCPs, and SWPPPs. Maintain routine record keeping and reporting required by EHS Managers to comply with environmental permits. Conduct compliance audits through on-site inspections, data gathering, and document reviews; recommend corrective actions and prepare audit reports. Air emission inventories, air emission records review and development, and regulatory/compliance reviews. Develop Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventories, including GHG emissions calculations and reports. Develop innovative plans to assist clients in achieving zero waste to landfill and other sustainability goals. Prepare and submit regulatory permit applications and reports. Perform visible emission readings, conduct waste inspections, and collect and assess storm water samples. Interpret collected data and environmental records to aid in reporting. Provide on-site regulatory assistance at industrial facilities. Build and maintain trusted relationships with new and existing clients. Minimum Physical Requirements
Common office tasks involve sitting, standing, walking, using a personal computer, and verbal communication. Most work is indoors with occasional project site visits. Lifting up to 50 pounds, outdoor maneuvering, and using technical data collection equipment are sometimes necessary. Must be able to drive to project sites and meetings with clients. Travel for field work or site visits may be required. Visual acuity to perform responsibilities. Education, Licensure & Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability or related field. A minor in Sustainability is a plus. Skills & Experience
10+ years of experience in environmental compliance (consulting, EHS management, or regulatory agency). Experience in hazardous waste management, including waste characterization. Experience preparing various environmental reports and regulatory agency documents. Working knowledge of environmental compliance and regulations. Ability to develop and maintain client relationships. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially for proposals and reports. Experience with Microsoft Excel, including formulas and calculations. Strong time management, multitasking, attention to detail, and accuracy. Technical and problem-solving skills. What We Offer
