Overview
Safety Manager - Kiewit Nuclear Solutions – Idaho/South Carolina At Kiewit, one of our guiding principles on every project and in every office is, “Nobody Gets Hurt.” We’re currently looking for a Safety Manager who will create, support and audit programs that reinforce our commitment to safety. You will report to the Project Safety Manager and focus on the Site Specific Safety Plan in the field, applying contract requirements, client safety expectations, and corporate safety manuals. You will verify work is executed as planned, collaborate with operations and craft, assist with corrective actions, and provide resources to sustain solutions. Location: Aiken, SC or Idaho Falls, ID
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the craft daily in the field to promote buy-in of the safety program and ensure ownership of safety by the workforce
Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure adherence to company policies, regulations, work plans, and detailed work packs
Plan, prioritize, and problem-solve with field operations based on leading indicators and upcoming work
Encourage, support, inspire, and advise staff and craft employees
Assist with maintaining project files in compliance with OSHA/MSHA regulations and internal policies, including accident/injury files
Assist with first aid and maintain relationships with emergency medical services and clinics
Assist with incident investigations and implement effective corrective actions
Complete daily hazard inspections and assist with corrective actions across operations, craft, and subcontractors
Review work plans and detailed work plans prior to start of work
Provide safety training on policies, procedures, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, orientation, and client-specific requirements
Qualifications
Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field preferred
Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements in commercial nuclear and DOE settings
Working knowledge of computers; experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies
Strong work ethic; willing to do what it takes to get the job done
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to access all points of a construction site in diverse climates and environments

Regular, reliable attendance
Work productively and meet deadlines; communicate effectively with supervisors and teams
Perform work safely and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs and equipment policies
Work normal hours and overtime/weekends as required
May work at various locations; conditions may vary
