Adjunct Faculty
in the Computer Repair discipline. This is a part-time, non-exempt position with compensation per lecture hour for new adjuncts. Responsibilities
Deliver learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement, and by effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success. Prepare course materials and lessons; note preparation time varies based on instructor experience. Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and an approved, standardized syllabus. Create interesting and relevant assignments that demonstrate learning outcomes in real-life settings. Engage and communicate with students to encourage participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect. Complete grade books, final grade sheets, learning assessments, and final exam assessments in a timely manner. Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus. Maintain records of each student’s progress and make them available upon request by students and/or College personnel. Facilitate meaningful learning of course competencies and proactively support all facets of the learning environment. Promote student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule and by demonstrating a passion for teaching and students. Design, administer, and grade examinations to assess achievement of course objectives as identified in the syllabus and approved by the Academic Dean. Complete end-of-term responsibilities, including submission of final grades, copies of exams, attendance records, and other designated materials to the Academic Office. Consult with the academic area chair or other College personnel on questions involving curricula, instructional strategies, and College policies and procedures. Respond promptly and thoroughly to requests from students, academic area chairs, department heads, committees, and Records Office. Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in the teaching subject area, or a closely related topic CompTIA A+ certification At least 3 years industry or business experience in the computer repair area Knowledge of accurate diagnoses and repair of desktop, laptop, and tablet computers Working knowledge of computer operating systems Knowledge of computer repair and maintenance Basic networking skills demonstrating the ability to connect and configure computers Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team Ability to interact successfully with academic, business, and regulatory personnel Night hours are required Preferred Qualifications
Previous teaching experience in an academic environment 5 years of industry or business experience in the teaching subject area Experience with online teaching and/or instruction in higher education Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and life experiences Ability to use diverse classroom technology and innovative instructional support systems Desired Competencies
