This position supports students under the direction of the Education Specialist or other certificated staff by performing a variety of academic and behavior support duties for individual or small groups within the special education classroom, regular classroom, and other school settings (in-person and virtual). Duties are designed to complement the instructional program to maximize learning opportunities. Responsibilities
Report to the school leader and work under the direction of the Education Specialist or other certificated staff to assist with academic and behavior support for students in various settings. Assist in establishing and implementing appropriate classroom and school-wide behavior plans and help students access all aspects of the educational environment. Work with students in small groups or one-on-one to reinforce or follow up learning activities in core academic, language, and/or specialized subject areas (for in-class and distance learning). Support the instructional program to maximize learning opportunities across settings. Support positive behavior, relationships, and participation during field trips, school assemblies, or productions. Provide testing accommodations and supervise tests when needed. Provide progress information to the Education Specialist through observation and data tracking. Maintain a clean, safe, and cooperative classroom and learning environment. Assist physically disabled students with personal hygiene and self-help tasks as needed. Report health concerns to appropriate school personnel and maintain confidentiality of student records per legal requirements and KIPP policies. Participate in IEP meetings, parent–teacher conferences, and Student Study Meetings as required. Adhere to KIPP health and safety guidelines and participate in professional growth opportunities. Ensure consistent and on-time attendance during school hours and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Experience : Paid or volunteer experience working with or serving individuals with academic, behavioral, or functional needs is preferred. Education : Title I paraprofessionals with instructional support duties must have: High school diploma or equivalent, and An A.A. degree or B.A. degree (or minimum 48 units in process) or Pass the ETS ParaPro Assessment (passing score = 460). Knowledge/Skills : Commitment to KIPP mission and anti-racist education Belief that all students can achieve at high levels Strong content knowledge and relationship-building skills with students, families, and communities Effective communication with students, families, and colleagues Proficiency with Google Suite (Google Classroom, Hangouts, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.) Ability to learn and use instructional technology for in-class and distance learning (e.g., Zoom, Nearpod) Bilingual abilities reflecting student populations are preferred Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Assist in implementing behavior intervention plans using approved strategies to establish and maintain appropriate behaviors. Facilitate positive social interactions and relationships between students with disabilities and their non-disabled peers. Model appropriate behavior and provide emotional support and guidance to students. Support student participation in field trips and school events. Provide testing accommodations and supervise testing as needed. Share progress information through observation and data trackers. Maintain a clean, safe, and cooperative classroom environment. Assist with personal hygiene and self-help skills for physically disabled students as needed. Report health problems to appropriate staff and maintain confidentiality of student information according to laws and policies. Participate in required meetings and maintain professional standards through professional development opportunities. Maintain consistent and on-time attendance; adhere to health and safety guidelines. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical, Mental and Environmental Demands

Navigate school and classroom settings, use technology, occasional lifting of 1-20 lbs, and ability to move and position oneself as needed. Mental:
Ability to handle deadlines, analyze problems, work with interruptions, concentrate, and perform calculations as needed. Environmental:
