Our client, a growing organization in the service industry, is seeking a

Manager of Indirect Tax

to lead all aspects of indirect tax compliance, planning, and audit management. This role is ideal for a proactive and hands-on tax professional who thrives in a dynamic, multi-jurisdictional environment and is looking to make a strategic impact. Position Summary: The Indirect Tax Manager will oversee compliance for sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, and property tax. This role involves collaboration across the finance team and with external advisors and tax authorities. The successful candidate will work closely with the Tax Director to shape and execute the company’s indirect tax strategy, especially as the business expands through organic growth and strategic initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Review sales and use tax returns prepared by analysts to ensure accuracy and compliance. Evaluate and enhance current compliance processes, including automation of reporting systems. Assess tax strategies and exposures; develop planning initiatives. Conduct tax research and interpret state and local tax law changes. Analyze and approve tax entries related to filings and accruals. Perform true-up analyses and reconcile tax ledger accounts. Maintain internal tax resources and controls, including rate matrices. Manage indirect tax audits from start to finish. Serve as the primary liaison with external tax advisors, integrating their guidance into company processes. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Tax. 5–7+ years of experience in public accounting or industry, with a focus on sales and use tax. 2–3 years of leadership experience in indirect tax. Proficiency in tax systems such as SAP, Sage, MS Dynamics, Avalara, and CCH. CPA certification is a plus. Familiarity with property tax and multi-state tax issues is beneficial. Strong leadership and communication skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with tax research tools like OneSource and CCH.
