Experienced Neonatal Advanced Practice Provider

The Nemours Neonatology team is looking for a part-time experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our expanding NICU in Wilmington, Delaware. We will be expanding in 2025, adding 14 new inpatient rooms, resulting in a 45-bed NICU. Shifts are rotating and will require holiday commitments. The NICU is Level IV, providing the highest level of neonatal care. Newborn medicine specialists, or neonatologists, provide around-the-clock care in this high-tech unit. Pediatric surgeons and other specialists have direct access to the NICU. Key Responsibilities

Manages and provides care for neonatal intensive care patients with collaborative consultation from team members under the direction of an attending neonatologist. Receives a distressed neonate in the Delivery Room and initiates appropriate intervention. Performs comprehensive newborn physical examinations and assesses gestational age, distinguishing between normal and abnormal findings. Conducts parent interviews and collects family history. Collaborates with neonatologists on relevant historical events, physical findings, and therapeutic measures for all admissions. Orders appropriate laboratory tests and procedures. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures necessary for neonatal care. Reviews and provides care items such as temperature stabilization, hyperalimentation therapy, feeding management, and phototherapy. Participates in daily rounds in the NICU. Rotating shifts required. Minimum of 2 years Neonatal NP/Physician Assistant experience preferred. For NNP: Current unrestricted ARNP license to practice in the state(s) of privileges; Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Certification; BLS and NRP Certification on hire. For PA-C: Current unrestricted PA license to practice in the state(s) of privileges; NCCPA certification. Current American Heart Association BLS and NRP Certification.
