Austin Community College Job Posting Title : Faculty, Dance Job Description Summary : The Dance Faculty supports learning in studio, classroom, and online modalities. Responsible to prepare and deliver coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate ways that reflect a commitment to student success and creating an environment that promotes belonging for all. Classes taught will include studio-based instruction as well as lecture-based courses: Dance Appreciation and/or World Dance. Job Description : The Austin Community College Dance Department is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD). The department serves dance majors seeking an Associate Degree and/or transfer, high school dual credit students, lifelong learners, and non-dance majors fulfilling a core curriculum requirement. Principal Responsibilities And Duties : Prepare and teach courses in the field of Dance to a multicultural student population based on the department's approved course learning outcomes. Participate actively in departmental responsibilities and departmental governance, including curriculum review and revision, program review, assessment of student learning outcomes. Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations. Serve as a mentor to students in the Dance program. Provide teaching and mentoring services to students in a manner which does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, protected veteran status, political affiliation, or other protected categories. Required Education : Master’s degree in Dance, or MFA with an emphasis in Dance, or Master’s degree in a related area with 18 graduate hours in Dance Qualities of a Successful Candidate : Ethics, integrity, and sound professional judgment. A commitment to establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with students, colleagues, and staff representing multicultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Dynamic, non-traditional instructional delivery methods to teach students of widely varying levels of proficiency and from various backgrounds and abilities.
