Overview
Staff Engineer - Finance Data Specialist (Remote) at GEICO. This role partners with Finance and Technology teams to design, build, and maintain a Finance Data Warehouse/Lake, enabling FP&A processing and analytics and providing a reconciled source of truth for financial data. Responsibilities
Leverage functional and technical Finance systems expertise to identify and implement solutions that meet current and future needs of the department and GEICO. Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle. Contribute to design sessions to ensure systems are well designed, efficient, and meet business expectations. Collaborate with Finance Leaders (FP&A, Controllers, Financial Reporting, Finance QA & Systems) and Data Engineering/Finance Technology teams to align on goals and roadmaps. Develop and maintain a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse as a central repository for financial transactions for processing and analytics. Support FP&A planning/budgeting, financial reporting, and revenue/expense analytics; guide the Finance Data Warehouse evolution to enable a reconciled ledger (thin GL). Apply deep Finance Systems experience across ERP and Data Warehouses, with practical knowledge of ERP systems (Oracle, Workday, SAP, PeopleSoft). Lead or support data ingestion and transformation projects using ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Informatica, DBT) and cloud data solutions (Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi, Snowflake, Redshift or equivalent). Contribute to roadmap development and implementation of Revenue and Expense analytics solutions. Engage with customers and stakeholders to manage expectations and align on goals. Support control and governance frameworks for SOX and audit reviews. Translate business and functional specifications into technical specifications; share best practices across teams. Qualifications
15+ years of Finance Systems experience with ERP solutions (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP, PeopleSoft). 3+ years implementing and supporting FP&A applications (preferred). 3+ years working with Finance Data Lakes/Warehouses/Marts and Financial Reporting tools. Strong understanding of Dimensional Data Modeling and data processing/ETL/ELT. Experience with SQL and performance optimization of SQL queries and ETL jobs. Experience with financial systems from major vendors (PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS, Oracle Cloud, Workday, SAP). Finance domain expertise to translate processes into system solutions; knowledge of FP&A budgeting, planning, and forecasting. Experience with analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau) for Revenue/Expense analysis. Strong communication skills across Technology and Finance; ability to work independently and in teams; solid project management understanding. Knowledge of SDLC and ability to operate in fast-paced environments. Ability to travel? (not specified) and willingness to work remotely as applicable. Education
