Overview

The Accounting Analyst at Securian Financial primarily prepares and distributes periodic internal financial statements, regulatory accounting filings, and external audited financial statements and disclosures. Ensures all reports and disclosures comply with applicable regulations, professional standards and organization policies. Prepares journal entries for transactions in a timely and accurate basis for inclusion in internal and external financial statements. Researches and establishes accounting and reporting policies and assists in complex accounting and reporting transactions. Responsible for financial systems including but not limited to general ledger and internal control systems. Responsibilities

Prepares and completes financial reports on a timely basis, including monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for certain subsidiaries. Analytically reviews the financial statements and provides financial assistance to product line and subsidiary financial managers. Assists with the quarterly consolidation of GAAP financial statements. Participates in the preparation of annual earnings, operating budgets and goals for subsidiaries. Assists in monitoring accounting changes and ensuring they are appropriately addressed in the subsidiaries’ financial statements. Responds to inquiries from internal and external clients by providing feedback/documentation to financial statement users regarding audit matters and inquiries. Assists in preparing information related to multiple employee benefit plans and coordinates with external auditors on the completion of audited financial statements; keeps management informed of changing audit requirements and disclosures. Assists in the monthly sales reporting and in special projects (e.g., acquisitions or new investments). Cross-trains with other Financial Reporting associates. Qualifications

Knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting principles as they apply to Securian Financial Group accounting systems, operations and financial statements. Understanding of corporate system policies and procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP accounting products. Strong communication skills for resolving audit questions and providing quality service to business clients. Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and math skills to accurately complete financial statements and assist in designing analytical information for senior management and regulators. Preferred Qualifications

Four-year accounting degree; CPA (or pursuing) preferred. Financial reporting experience. Basic knowledge of GAAP, IFRS and statutory regulations. Basic knowledge of insurance products, services and operations. Compensation and Benefits

The estimated base pay range for this role is $45,500.00 - $84,500.00. Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience. Details on base pay and incentive pay can be discussed with a Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team member. Hybrid work model: associates work both virtually and in offices, with a typical pattern of 3 days per week in office for collaboration.
