AECOM Charlotte, NC | Hybrid work model Overview AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Environmental Engineer for employment in the Charlotte, NC office. This position supports the Environmental business line, primarily working on Federal/CERCLA/FUDS projects including Superfund and DOD sites. Responsibilities Conduct planning, implementation, and evaluation of data for CERCLA remediation investigations and remedial activities including RI, FS, ROD, PP and RDs. Manage or participate in treatability studies and full-scale implementation of in situ and ex situ remediation of environmental media. Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope. Prepare technical work plans and reports. Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance. Plan, execute, analyze, and report on environmental measures in natural systems. Apply standard field practices and techniques using basic field equipment to collect samples of soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, and sediment; prepare samples for shipping and complete chain-of-custody paperwork. Apply knowledge of natural sciences (chemistry, physics, biology, hydrology, and mathematics) to explain observations. Study contaminants and determine how to restore the environment. Prepare basic data and scientific documents. Review analytical data for indicators of quality for routine analyses based on well-defined guidelines. Coordinate with task and project managers, work with on-site subcontractors and field staff, supporting sampling, data collection, and field documentation. Provide technical expertise support. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in civil, chemical, mechanical, or environmental engineering or other related discipline. 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Valid U.S. Driver's License. US Citizenship required due to the nature of the work. Preferred Qualifications Experience with CERCLA RI/FS/RD processes on Superfund and DOD sites. OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification with annual refresher training. Professional registration or on track to obtain professional registration. Experience with design and/or implementation of remedial actions including in-situ treatment of groundwater for various contaminants including cVOCs and PFAS. Knowledge of treatability studies and implementation of in situ and ex situ remediation technologies. Experience with PFAS investigation in groundwater and soil. Experience with task management or deputy project management activities. Ability to travel for fieldwork and/or meetings (part-time travel within Georgia and Florida areas possible). Proficiency in standard office software; GIS, CAD, databases, and visualization software are desirable. Professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and colleagues. Tolerance for outdoor work in various weather conditions and be medically fit for wearing a respirator. Compensation & Benefits Offered compensation will be based on location and qualifications. The expected range is
