Job Title: Scientist II, Production (Microbiology) Reports To: Manager, R&D Position Location: Raleigh, NC Work Type: Onsite FLSA Status: Exempt Position Summary: Individuals seeking this position will be working in manufacturing, research and development, and product development in the microbiology department of the NSI business unit. Responsibilities

Execution of quality system procedures Proper execution of SOPs and work instructions for manufacturing procedures assigned by supervisor Ability to work individually as well as part of a team towards completion of specific projects Use of manufacturing related equipment as required by work instructions and SOPs Data analysis Demonstration of sound problem-solving skills, troubleshooting abilities, and good documentation practices Adherence to quality systems with special regard to ISO 9001 and GMP / OSHA compliance QC testing of components and finished products Use of aseptic technique in a Biosafety Cabinet to perform cell culture, harvests, processing, and QC testing for the manufacture of products from raw materials and cell culture components Proper use of PPE and safety protocols in BSL-1 and BSL-2 laboratories Growth and manipulation of multiple microorganisms including bacteria and fungi, for R&D and manufacturing Inventory management of materials and supplies Focus on continual process improvement Cleaning and maintenance of laboratory space and equipment Guided experimental design and product testing assigned by supervisor Preparation of reagents, media, and buffers Collaboration with the production team to facilitate feedback on new product design and production processes Involvement in long term operational strategies and organizational objectives Other duties as assigned Education

4-year B.S. degree required in biology, microbiology, or other life sciences program M.S degree in biology, microbiology, or other life sciences program may also qualify Experience

3-5 years of related experience, preferably including both laboratory and manufacturing/production environments Relevant experience in laboratory skills/cGMP, including but not limited to pipetting, preparing reagents, centrifugation, recording observations, etc. Relevant experience with and/or knowledge of microbiological proficiency testing and certified reference materials within a testing laboratory; ISO 17043, ISO 17034, ISO 17025 Minimum Requirements / Qualifications

Strong technical background in microbiology Ability to analyze and interpret data and results Proficiency in Microsoft Office Strong analytical, problem solving, and process improvement skills Strong attention to detail Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities Experience and/or knowledge performing common analytical test methods on food, environmental/water, pharmaceutical, and/or cannabis samples (e.g., culturing/plate count, MPN assays, PCR/qPCR) Experience performing and/or knowledge of microbiological proficiency testing Experience with good documentation practices QA and ISO compliance experience desired Ability to streamline work processes/flows for maximum efficiency Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment; works efficiently under pressure and within deadlines Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Strong work ethic and ability to excel within a rapidly changing and growing organization Willingness to cross-train and support other teams as needed Compensation & Benefits
