The Digital Engineering group is seeking a Scientist to join our multidisciplinary team advancing LANL's digital engineering strategy and strengthening the future of the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE). You will help guide and support engineers and professional staff working across five weapon systems: B61, W76, W78, W88, and W93. What You Will Do

Responsibilities for this position include the ability to: Support the development, document, and maintain tool interfaces for requirements integral to these weapon systems, including managing tool and system updates and changes as needed. Collaborate with weapon system engineers, Production Realization Team (PRT) leads, design physicists, and external partners such as DoD and NNSA. Define and implement interface environments in selected software tools that connect production systems to the digital thread. Partner with subject matter experts to assess current manufacturing infrastructure and integrate it with future-state capabilities. Support the development of documentation, best practices, and internal policies that advance the digital engineering thread for design to manufacturing efforts. Work closely with production engineering, liaison teams, and both internal and external SMEs to deploy advanced digital manufacturing solutions for new and legacy weapon systems, ensuring interoperability across the NSE. Work with System Engineers for Phase I & II, W93 as well as legacy systems (W76, W78, W88, B61) to develop strategies for implementation of digital toolsets to enable efficiencies in achieving FPU's as well as general product life cycle management. Work effectively with counterparts at Sandia National Laboratories, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Pantex, Kansas City National Security Campus and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) personnel. What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements: Familiarity with Systems Engineering Tools such as GENESYS, Cameo/MagicDraw, or similar model-based systems engineering (MBSE) platforms. Experience with Requirements Management Tools (e.g., DOORS or DOORS Next Generation) for capturing and maintaining system requirements. Basic programming or scripting proficiency in one or more languages such as Python, Java, or Visual Basic .NET, with ability to learn additional tools as needed. Exposure to data analysis and visualization tools such as Matplotlib, Jupyter Notebook, or RStudio. Understanding of agile team practices and familiarity with collaboration tools such as Jira or Confluence. Must be able to team well and work closely with others that are exploring strategies and approaches for improving engineering and production processes through enhanced digital connectivity and various systems engineering approaches across the Nuclear Weapon Complex. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation. Education/Experience:

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university and 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Desired Qualifications: Experience in requirements management, including authoring, validating, and maintaining requirements using tools such as DOORS or DOORS Next Generation or CodeBeamer. Experience with MBSE model development, including building, refining, and validating models in GENESYS, Cameo/MagicDraw, Datahub or similar platforms. Background in AI/ML applications, such as developing or deploying data pipelines, training models, or applying machine learning techniques for engineering problems. Active Q clearance. Work Location

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management. Position commitment

Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
