Seeking a full-time Landscape Manager to oversee the grounds of three distinguished estate properties in Cold Spring, NY; Greenwich Village, NY; and Atlantic Beach, NY. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned professional with a refined aesthetic sensibility and a passion for crafting sophisticated, minimalistic landscapes inspired by the romantic, nature-infused beauty of a Monet garden. This aesthetic blends rustic charm, Japanese minimalism, and a deep connection to the natural environment, creating vibrant, living landscapes that harmonize with their surroundings. The ideal candidate will have expertise in landscape architecture or design, a thorough understanding of regional plant life suited to the diverse climates of these locations, and a proven track record of managing high-end estates. The role involves transitioning from external landscaping teams to a cohesive in-house operation, with an emphasis on minimalistic elegance and potential integration of art into the landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the maintenance, design, and enhancement of landscapes across three estate properties in Cold Spring, NY; Greenwich Village, NY; and Atlantic Beach, NY.
Develop and implement minimalistic, high-end landscape designs that align with the properties’ aesthetic vision, incorporating regional plant life and artistic elements as needed.
Manage all groundskeeping tasks, including planting, pruning, irrigation, and seasonal care, to maintain exceptional quality and presentation.
Transition properties to a fully in-house landscaping operation, enhancing efficiency and design consistency.
Collaborate with the property owner to integrate art installations or sculptural elements, ensuring harmony between natural and artistic features.
Supervise contractors and support staff, ensuring alignment with the properties’ aesthetic and functional goals.
Monitor landscape health, addressing pest control, soil quality, and irrigation using sustainable practices.
Provide regular updates and strategic recommendations to the property owner for landscape improvements and long-term planning.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in landscape architecture, design, or high-end estate landscape management.
Demonstrated expertise in minimalistic landscape design, with a portfolio showcasing sophisticated, elegant projects.
Experience with museum landscapes, art-integrated designs, or similar high-caliber aesthetic environments is highly desirable.
In-depth knowledge of plant species and horticultural practices suited to the climates of Cold Spring, Greenwich Village, and Atlantic Beach, NY.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple properties and priorities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with property owners, staff, and contractors.
Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
Valid U.S. work authorization and driver’s license.
Willingness to live on-site at one of the properties (housing provided).
International experience or familiarity with European landscape design principles is a plus but not required.
