Overview

Assistant Professor of Chinese, German, Italian, Japanese, and Russian at Colorado College. Tenure-track appointment within the Department of Chinese, German, Italian, Japanese, and Russian Studies/Program of Chinese with specialization in Chinese language, literature, and culture. Begin Fall 2026. Responsibilities

Teach six courses per year, across all levels of Chinese language and related topics; one block teaching release in the first year. Maintain an active research agenda. Contribute to the Asian Studies program and to the colleges study-away offerings; participate in the development of the Chinese Studies Program at CC. Engage with students through co-curricular and community-building programming (e.g., activities at the Chinese Japanese House, field trips, and related events). Provide department and college-wide service. Qualifications

Ph.D. in East Asian Languages, Literatures, and Cultures or Comparative Literature by the start of employment. Native or near-native proficiency in both Chinese (Mandarin) and English. Strong teaching potential and an active research agenda. Preference for candidates who can connect to at least one additional area such as Environmental Studies, Feminist & Gender Studies, Queer Studies, Disability Studies, Film & Media Studies, or Race & Ethnic Studies. Selected candidates will be invited for Zoom interviews in late October or early November, with campus visits in early December. Salary & Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $90,000 Visa Sponsorship: Eligible for H-1B Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance; retirement plan (403b) with CC contribution of 10% and 5% employee contribution; paid breaks and holidays; tuition assistance for employee and eligible dependents; PSLF assistance; wellness benefits.
