Overview: Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Software Systems Engineer to support the Sentinel program. The role can be located in Colorado Springs, CO or Huntsville, AL.
Responsibilities
Lead software systems engineering efforts, including requirements, design, integration, and verification for complex systems.
Plan and manage technical scope with leadership and cross-functional teams; support planning and execution.
Define and write requirements for safety-critical functions and ensure coverage for SCFTA and related standards.
Develop and execute MBSE approaches, system architectures, and verification plans to ensure fault-tolerant and deterministic operation.
Collaborate across multiple Integrated Product Teams and suppliers; lead requirements, design, and integration activities.
Contribute to verification activities, including safety-critical aspects and model-based engineering.
Basic Qualifications
Sr. Principal Software Engineer: 8 years with a Bachelor's, 6 years with a Master's, 4 years with a PhD, or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.
US Citizenship with Active DoD Secret clearance (recent reinvestigation within last 6 years).
Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
Ability to plan, execute, and manage technical scope; strong software engineering practices.
Experience in software engineering, system design, software requirements, and testing.
Experience with Agile and cross-functional Scrum teams.
Experience with Safety Critical Functional Thread Analysis (SCFTA) and writing requirements for safety-critical functions.
Experience with USAF Nuclear Surety (AFMAN91-119) and/or Cyber Certification.
Experience integrating multiple engineering disciplines across IPTs and suppliers.
Experience leading requirements, design, and integration of complex systems.
Minimum 2 years MBSE experience.
Ability to create plans and standards for architecture, requirements, and design addressing safe, fault-tolerant, deterministic operation for critical functions.
Ability to create system, hardware, and software verification plans to address complete functional validation per software requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of the Command and Launch system and mission objectives.
SysML Model Builder Fundamental Certification.
Experience with verification planning and system integration for Flight Tests.
Experience with Model Based Product Line Engineering concepts.
Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) in a cross-functional Scrum team.
Experience performing SCFTA and cross-IPT collaboration.
Ability to establish a Software Requirements Peer Review Process with verification artifacts for peer review.

The standard work schedule is a 9/80. This role may offer relocation assistance. Salary range:
$124,900.00 - $196,700.00
