Overview

Researcher/Scientist III, Department of Physiology at University of Arizona. The research lab of Professor Shaowen Bao in the Department of Physiology, College of Medicine – Tucson campus is seeking a Research Scientist to lead the investigation of the mechanisms underlying noise trauma-induced neuronal death using advanced molecular, cellular and electrophysiological techniques. The candidate should have extensive experience with molecular cloning and immunofluorescence imaging. Prior experience in the field of cellular metabolism is highly valued. Duties & Responsibilities

Develop, plan, design, and conduct novel research on noise trauma-induced cell death. Operate and maintain this specialized research area/lab. Formulate research methods and criteria for projects in accordance with peer-reviewed standards; collaborate on new techniques and equipment. Develop and establish functional timelines to complete assigned work to meet research obligations. Lab equipment management. Coordinate with senior leadership to ensure regulatory compliance and fulfill reporting requirements of granting agencies. Participate in strategy, structure, and development of grant proposals, including grant writing and protocol development. Identify opportunities for new research funding using domain expertise and understanding of core capabilities. Author, co-author, present, and co-present research results at meetings or conferences with principal investigators. Other duties as assigned by the PI. Minimum Qualifications

Five (5) years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional experience. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree or PhD in molecular biology, physiology, or neuroscience. Experience with molecular biology.
