Adjunct Lecturer in Law - AI Ethics, Privacy and Regulation

Job location: Los Angeles, California (on campus) Overview AI Ethics, Privacy and Regulation for LLM Students. This course will explore the ethical, legal, and privacy implications involved with using Artificial Intelligence, focusing on case law, statutes, and regulations regarding generative AI. Students will study current and proposed regulations at national and international levels, with emphasis on ethics, bias, discrimination, accountability, and professional responsibility in the legal profession. The course also covers challenges posed by AI-powered systems that collect and process personal and biometric data. Responsibilities Teach the adjunct course on campus for LLM students, focusing on AI ethics, privacy, and regulation. Prepare syllabi, lectures, assignments, and assessments aligned with course objectives. Engage students in discussions on current and proposed AI regulations and related case law. Provide timely feedback and maintain professional standards in teaching and scholarship. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) required. At least five years of practical experience, including experience in the course subject matter. Teaching experience is preferred. In addition, the course will be taught on campus, so instructors must be local. Appointment details USC reserves the Adjunct appointment for faculty teaching less than full-time at USC, who are employed full-time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty typically teach only one course per year but may teach one course per semester in exceptional cases with dean approval. Adjunct Lecturers are required to complete specific training as a condition of employment. Trainings may include Harassment Prevention, Integrity and Accountability Code, Information Security, Workplace Violence Prevention, and other trainings as required by job responsibilities.
