East Carolina University (ECU) is a Carnegie Doctoral University with high research activity. We are also a teaching institution renowned for academic excellence. Many students come from rural communities with diverse perspectives. The College of Business (COB) has AACSB accreditation for over 40 years. It offers BSBA, MBA, and MSA degrees. The School of Hospitality Management offers a BS in Hospitality Management and an MS in Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality. The Miller School of Entrepreneurship offers a BS in Entrepreneurship. The COB is one of the largest Colleges of Business in the state with approximately 4,200 undergraduates and 900 graduates. The COB has about 150 faculty members dedicated to research, teaching, and knowledge application. A strategic goal is to foster an environment where faculty, staff, and students thrive and are personally and professionally respected. The Department of Accounting within the COB at ECU offers courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels and has approximately 500 undergraduate majors, 185 graduate students, and over 20 faculty members. The department seeks to attract faculty of the highest caliber skilled in research, teaching, and knowledge application. Job Duties
The Department of Accounting at East Carolina University seeks applicants for a tenure-track, nine-month faculty position beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. The position is open to all areas of accounting. The standard teaching load is 9 semester hours per fall and 9 per spring semester. A modified teaching load of 6 semester hours with summer support for the first two years may be available to candidates with a PhD newly conferred to assist with establishing their research. Additional duties include research/creative activities leading to publications and appropriate service to the university, community, and profession. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor beginning in August 2026. Contingent upon availability of funds. Minimum Education/Experience
This appointment requires a PhD with a concentration in Accounting from an appropriately accredited institution that satisfies credentialing under SACS guidelines. Candidates with PhD newly conferred at the time of initial appointment will hold the probationary rank of Assistant Professor. ABD candidates will also be initially appointed with the probationary term rank of Assistant Professor and must have the terminal degree conferred prior to their first reappointment. The position requires teaching excellence and strong scholarly productivity. The candidate is required to be a CPA. License Or Certification
