Position: Cable Technician II
Location: Pentagon, Washington DC
Clearance: Active Secret Clearance (required)
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience
Certification: Related certifications for Fiber Optic Cable and CAT6 Cable Installation (required)
Roles and Responsibilities
Familiarity with BICSI rules, regulations, and standards.
Proficiency in using network cabling test equipment including network testers, copper cable testers, fiber OTDRs, and fiber power meters.
Analyze, administer, and maintain telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure.
Dress, terminate, and test cables and components; ability to work with power tools and ladders.
Test, locate, install, and repair cabling infrastructure related to trouble calls; perform routine maintenance.
Install, maintain, and repair voice and data communication systems.
Identify, track, and remove abandoned cables; keep cables neatly tied and bundled while maintaining safety standards.
Effective communication skills with personnel of various expertise levels.
Provide solid customer support in high visibility environments.
Problem analysis and solving skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Minimum Requirements
At least 3+ years of related telecommunications experience.
At least 3+ years of experience working as a Cable Technician within the DoD environment.
