Overview The Department of Educational Psychology and Learning Systems in the Anne Spencer Daves College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences is seeking qualified applicants for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in Educational Psychology: Learning & Cognition (L&C). We seek a colleague committed to research, mentorship, teaching, and advising.

Responsibilities

Develop and teach graduate-level courses online, face-to-face, and in blended learning environments.

Mentor graduate students and advise doctoral dissertations.

Pursue external funding opportunities.

Collaborate with colleagues, students, and alumni to maintain a strong program community and identity.

Provide service to the program, department, college, and the profession.

Qualifications Candidates for this position are required to have an earned doctorate in Educational Psychology, Learning Sciences, or a closely related field from an accredited university. ABD candidates may be considered if their degree will be conferred no later than August 2026. The successful candidate should have a clearly articulated research focus with a record of publications, presentations, and funding, as appropriate to their time in the field.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching online, face-to-face, or in blended learning settings.

Research focused on learning, motivation, or instruction.

Experience working with a student body from all backgrounds.

Additionally, candidates should have:

Knowledge and skills to teach courses in two or more of the following areas: psychology of learning, research methods, self-regulation, epistemological beliefs, social psychology, lifespan development, and classroom assessment.

A demonstrated commitment to promoting learners’ and teachers’ academic and career success.

Other Information The Learning & Cognition program at Florida State University is among the top Educational Psychology programs according to U.S. News & World Report. The program offers online MS, face-to-face MS-thesis, and PhD degrees, as well as a graduate certificate in College Teaching. L&C focuses on evaluating effective learning contexts and research evidence behind education-related interventions, and emphasizes conducting research for thesis and doctoral students. We prepare professionals to apply theories of learning, motivation, self-regulation, and development to their fields of practice across diverse backgrounds and settings.

College Context The roots of Anne Spencer Daves College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences at Florida State University date back to the university’s establishment.
