Maintain buildings and facilities to ensure cleanliness, orderliness and an aesthetically appealing physical environment. Lead Environmental Services Technicians and Project Relief Specialists. In the absence of a supervisor, assume a supervisory role. Essential Functions - Regular work shift is Wednesday - Sunday Clean and disinfect drinking fountains and bathroom areas and replenish supplies. Wash furnishings, walls, windows, tile, fixtures, equipment and floors. Vacuum in all buildings and dust and polish specified areas and/or furnishings. Clean chalkboards, erasers and chalk trays and replenish chalk. Clean and dust bulletin cases, pictures, trophy cases, fixtures, door frames and related furnishings. Clean elevator door tracks. Perform all cleaning tasks in a timely and complete manner. Collect and remove trash and recyclables. Clean all types of flooring surfaces, including stairs. Use an auto scrubber in certain buildings to remove soil and spills from non-carpeted floors. Report malfunctions, unsafe conditions, repairs and damages of equipment, fixtures and buildings to supervisor. Pick up, distribute and monitor and secure supplies and equipment. Maintain open and responsive relationships with the college community, including guests, students and other employees. Clean and refill floor drains. Shampoo carpets or use carpet stain remover and gum remover to remove carpet stains and gummy soil. Operate burnish or spray buff equipment to finish floors. Operate floor care equipment including floor scrubbers and carpet extractors. Clean interior and exterior of laundry washers and dryers. Perform minor equipment repair. Perform setup for special and athletic events. Sweep or shovel snow from buildings, entrances and steps. Report malfunctions, unsafe conditions, need for repair and damage to equipment, fixtures and buildings to supervisor. Perform daily inspections; document issues and follow up on progress. Plan for and ensure event coverage. Schedule and coordinate and work. Assist in training and developing employees. Assigns and reviews the work of Environmental Services Technicians and Project Relief Specialists and reports concerns to Environmental Services Supervisor. May supervise staff in the absence of the Environmental Services Supervisor. Qualifications
Education Required: High school diploma or GED Education Preferred: Associate's Or Vocational/technical School Degree Other Professional Licensures: Valid Driver's License Required Work Experience: 3 - 5 years Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Technical knowledge of commercial cleaning industry including floor care experience. Knowledge of cleaning equipment maintenance and minor repair. Must be able operate assigned tools and housekeeping equipment or be willing to learn. Must be able to work with chemicals and cleaning solutions and their application. Must be able to use and operate floor and carpet care equipment. Must be able to read and follow instructions and Safety Data Sheets. Must be able to follow all safety requirements and work in personal protective equipment. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to compose and send/receive emails. Must work with other employees in a dependable, collaborative and effective manner, treating co-workers and all members of the community with respect and contribute to a positive team environment. Must be able to successfully complete driver\'s clearance process. Should be able to work effectively with a limited amount of supervision. Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and holidays as required. Ability to support the mission and values of a Catholic Jesuit education, as well as University goals for institutional diversity. Physical/Environmental Demands
Specific physical requirements or environmental exposures. Work involves heavy physical tasks such as walking over rough surfaces, bending, stooping, working in confined spaces, and lifting or carrying moderately heavy (20-50 pounds) items and occasionally very heavy (100 pounds or over) items; may involve operation of powered machinery or shop equipment. Work environment may include dirt, dust, chemicals, cold, heat, noise, vibrations, or dampness, with potential for non-disabling injuries. Additional Information
