Backend Engineer

Icon Trading is building the next-generation crypto HFT trading desk, and we are looking for an exceptional backend engineer to join our core team in New York. We are a technology-first trading firm. Our mission is to design and build ultra-low-latency systems that compete in some of the most challenging and dynamic markets in the world. This is not a maintenance role – you will own the full lifecycle of our trading infrastructure: from data ingestion and exchange connectivity to OMS and execution systems – with an obsession for speed, reliability, and fault tolerance. What You’ll Do Design and implement end-to-end HFT systems: data pipelines → OMS → execution Optimize for microscopic-level performance and system reliability under real-world market conditions Build and maintain exchange connectivity (WebSocket/FIX) across multiple crypto venues Profile, benchmark, and tune code to continuously reduce latency Collaborate closely with traders and researchers to bring ideas into production fast What We’re Looking For Deep expertise in Rust or C++, concurrency, and distributed systems Strong experience building low-latency trading infrastructure or similar mission-critical systems Familiarity with Linux systems and performance tuning Experience with crypto exchange connectivity and market data APIs Based in NYC or willing to relocate Bonus: network programming and optimization experience Who Thrives Here Engineers who own projects end-to-end and love shipping quickly People obsessed with performance, fault tolerance, and elegant systems design Curious builders who care about market microstructure and like to push technical boundaries Ambitious individuals who want to help build a world-class trading firm from the ground up If this sounds like you, let’s talk.
